As you drive east along the carretera in Ajijic, notice the mural, one block before the El Torito shopping center, on the southside (lakeside). It is on a huge wall donated by ARTE 4 U Gallery.

A new mural, being painted by Francisco Gonzalez a University of Guadalajara trained artist, is the first of 6 contemporary murals, which will depict a fusion of not only the North American cultures but also other cultures of the world.
Right now, the mural is being painted in a brown basecoat but will be completed in bright colors. He will show the wrestlers, mariachis and skeletons of Mexico culture, surfers and skateboarders of the U.S. and many more. A very happy, cheerful mural.
He will also paint murals along the carretera in San Antonio, Jocotepec, Chapala and San Juan Cosala, so if you or if you know of someone who has a large, visible wall along the carretera, please let them know of this project.
Stop by and speak with him about the project. There is a donation can to pay for the paint and brushes that he will need to help beautify Ajijic and keep it headed in the right direction of an artist colony, a dream of the local artists. He cannot do it without our help..
