Hola, Kindle! Amazon launches Mexican e-book store, ….

Looking for an ideal place to pass along your ‘old’ Kindle? You might consider one of the local high school students, the majority of whom have limited access to books at a time in their lives when they need academic and intellectual exposure! Just look around you and you might have noticed that you don’t see many libraries and you don’t see much of a library at any of the schools either. The vast majority of Mexicans do not even have access to a bookstore in their town (Pedro Huerta, director of Kindle Content in Latin America). And, if the bookstore is there, the books are typically too expensive for the majority of Mexican students.

The new Mexico Kindle Store offers 2 million e-book titles, more than 70,000 of which are in Spanish and of those, 1,500 are free. With the donation of your old Kindle, the student just needs an internet connection to open an account which has no fees and does not require a credit card. Within minutes the student can start downloading their first ‘free’ book and ‘you’ will have made a difference in his or her life!
If you have a Kindle you’d like to donate, but do not have a student in mind, I’m happy to help. The last couple of years I’ve been working with lakeside high school and university scholarship students who receive the Kindles ……
