Difference Between Collective and Co-operative Business
In March 2014 Mary Ellen and her partner Mony opened a retail collective that supports local artisans in Ajijic.
Everything needed is made locally, not imported, creating generations of family artisans. They started with 8 creative local folks and now represent over 50 artisans or collectives from across Mexico. El corazón creativo, is the central space for these artisans to sell their goods. They also carry creations unique to other Mexican states and a few of the artisans known as national "Maestros del Arte". Mary Ellen is also working with Rotary Club of Ajijic with the Satellite E-club of Chapala on the Maripoas project to provide programming for children and youth which enhances their capacities to develop life and vocational skills which will support their families. - See more at: www.rotaryajijic.org
