33rd Annual Chili Cook-off |
The 33rd Annual Mexican National Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for February 18 - 20 at Tobolandia in Ajijic.
|
Highlighting the event again will be the People's Choice Chili & Salsa competitions. Salsa tasting is set for Friday, Home Cooked Chili on Saturday and Restaurant Chef's cooking chili on Sunday.
There are still a few openings for the Salsa and Chili competitions and you can sign up by contacting Don Howse at donandjim@prodigy.net.mx.
There is also a need for volunteers for this charity fund-raising event. We have jobs for every ability. If you have a few hours to donate during the event, you have free admittance, free parking and a lot of fun. For volunteer opportunities, contact: Jim Hussin 766-5784 in Ajijic.
Some big changes to this year's event too. With limited parking at Tobolandia during the cook-off, we've improved the back parking lot and will be providing golf cart shuttle rides from the parking lot to the event and back. You won't have to walk a mile for the fun.
The cooking competition and tasting will be more comfortable too. No more long line in the hot sun. We've replaced the small tents with a giant 12 by 24 meter cooking tent, with plenty of room to get under the shade for the entire chili and salsa tasting.
As always, there will be plenty of shopping bargains, live entertainment all three days, and lots of good food. The event supports six lakeside charities.
