2025November Events

Ajijic Dia de Muertos 2025 

Events to be held at Plaza Ajijic or Malecon Ajijic or vicinity

October 30. 5pm Opening Exhibit at Centro Cultural Ajijic, Dia de Muertos Themed paintings.

November 1 and 2. Dia de Muertos, Day of the Dead. Days for families to pay their respect and to remember their deceased family members. Celebrated with music and the flowers of the cempazúchitl (marigolds). There will be ofrendas decorated with memoirs and food for the deceased to enjoy. Please watch the movie Coco, if you are unaware of joyful, not solemn event. November 1st is for the children and the 2nd is for the adults who have passed.

Nov 1 is Dia de Muertos for Children. There will be a parade beginning at Seis Esquinas, up Ocampo, the Marcos Castellanos to Plaza Ajijic. The children will be dressed as Catrines and Catrinas.

Lot's of activites at Plaza Ajijic, all day.

Nov 2

Altars and Tapetes at Plaza Ajijic and on Colon/Morelos. Most should be erected by 2pm.

2pm Inaguration of the Community Altar by the Lake Chapala Society at Malecon Ajijic

3pm Xoloitzucuintle competition at Malecon Ajijic

Many events at Plaza Ajijic from 4pm

5pm Catrinas and Catrines Parade. Traditional Costumes, avoid halloween costumes. Parade route, Ocampo-Calle Morelos-Malecon

5:30pm Catrines and Catrinas entertain you on their canoes off Malecon Ajijic.

Dia de Revolucion

Monday holiday November 17 but November 20 is the Dia de Revolucion celebration. Revolution Day is an official Mexican government holiday, celebrated annually on November 20, in Ajijic, marking the start of what became the Mexican Revolucion. There will be a parade, in Ajijic, approximately at 9am in the village. Banks, Schools, Government and many businesses will be closed on Monday November 17. Domestic help to be paid holiday pay.

San Andres Novena

Friday November 21 Begins the San Andres Novena with masses at San Andres Church. There will be a parade, with allegorical floats in the village beginning at 4:30 pm.

The Music and events begin November 22 until the 30th. Each day is sponsored by a different guild and they support the events. The last day is usually the biggest day because it is sponsored by the children who live outside of Mexico. The Novena is a 9 day celebration for our patron saint, San Andre. There will be many activities during the day and night but mostly after 7pm. Carnival rides set up in the plaza and many vendors will be in town and pyrotechnics at 10pm on the church grounds.

Castillos will be set up on the San Andres property.

Bands will be set up in the plaza most nights.
