2023 October Month of the Virgen of the Rosary

Highlights for October 

October is dedicated to our Virgen of the Rosary

September 30th begins the celebration of the Virgen of Rosario. During the year she resides in the small church on the Ajijic Plaza.

Approximately at 5pm, a procession comes from the Church of Guadalupe, located just west of seis esquinas, on Ocampo, to San Andres Church on Parroquia in Ajijic. San Andres is the patron saint of Ajijic.

Each morning at 5am throughout October, there is music in the church, dedicated to the virgen.

October 31 is the last day which culminates with a procession of floats, danzantes, bandas and the Virgen. The parade route has usually been Calle Galeana, behind San Andres Church, then heads west on Constitucion, which turns into Ocampo, via Guadalupe Victoria to Aldama, to seis esquinas,Obregon, east on Hidalgo and returning to San Andres Church for a twilight mass in San Andre’s Church atrium. She then returns to the small chapel on the plaza. There will be a castillo at 9pm and cohetes by the plaza.

October 12 - A Fundraiser for Dia de Muertos. Art Auction by Efren Gonzalez to raise funds for Nov 1 and 2. The auction will be on Plaza Ajijic 4pm. This will raise money for the lighting of the skulls at his two locations, one at the school across from San Andres Church on Marcos Castellanos and the Other at the Musee of Arte on Flores Magon. Also for the sawdust carpets and more at Plaza Ajijic.

October 28th is the 13th Annual Thrill the World synchronized, worldwide dance, dancing to Michael Jackson’s Thriller song, at Malecon Ajijic which begins at 3pm. The dancer’s have been practicing all month for this production and will be dressed in zombie costumes. This is a Cruz Roja Fundraiser and hopes are to raise $10,000USD from the event.
